Experience
I have been a 7th grade English/Language Arts teacher for 5 years in Jamestown, NC. Since graduating with B.S. in 2009, I have furthered my education and continued gaining experience in multiple areas and multiple ages. I have tutored middle school, elementary, and high school students privately and through the UNCG Reading Clinic. My tutoring experience has mainly dealt with diagnosing and correcting reading difficulties. I enjoy tutoring, because unlike classroom teaching, you can address a child's exact needs and interests. My expertise/experience in teaching and reading instruction allows me to access and utilize research proven strategies to obtain optimal growth in students of all ages.

I will be moving to the Charleston area in early August of 2014. Right away, you will see my passion for reading and connecting with students' interest. I am laid back and very patient, yet energetic and passionate about teaching. During tutoring sessions, I try to capitalize on student interest and personality. It is my philosophy that students should be able to express their strengths and learning is optimized when the teaching is tailored to the specific needs of the child.
