Chris V.
Private tutor in Charleston, SC
Education
Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, The University of Tennessee Master of Arts in Spanish Literature, University of Virginia
Experience
I have taught Spanish for a total of 14 years. I have privately tutored several clients of various ages and learning capacities and am currently teaching multiple levels of Spanish in high school. I am certified to teach AP Spanish Language and Culture. I also serve as a Mentor through my school district's Induction Program for new teachers. I enjoy tutoring because of the freedom it provides my students to allow their inquiry to unfold naturally. By adding structure to that process, I can guide them along their own individualized path to learning Spanish. In a one-to-one setting, learning tends to be more meaningful and permanent and can inspire continual curiosity.

Hobbies
I have traveled in Spain and other parts of Europe, as well as Colombia. My most recent excursion was a family vacation to Austria, the Czech Republic, and Scotland. I love studying world languages and culture and consider it a path to a more unified, peaceful world. I also enjoy exercise and a healthful lifestyle. My wife and I have two children, both teenagers. My wife travels the world as a fitness consultant, a career that has carried her to a dozen countries. Many years ago when I was a freshman in college, a bulletin board on campus caught my attention. I was inspired by its simple message beckoning students to take advantage of their youth and change the world for the better by travelling and studying abroad. Maybe you'll be inspired by that same message . . . Help eliminate foreign languages. LEARN ONE!
