I use a 'whole-student' approach when I tutor, which allows me to give each student a personalized learning experience to better suit his/her academic needs. Not only do I address their homework completion and test readiness but I assist the student with the fundamental understanding of the coursework, which will bring up scores in the class and also raise general interest in the course. I have found that greater interest means more participation, which leads to more learning and a great understanding of the course with better grades. One day I would like to be a professor of Science and being a tutor has given me great knowledge in how to address the needs of a student with understanding, patience, and encouragement. 3+ years as a professional tutor at Masterminds Learning Center and Huntington Learning Center. Here I taught all kinds of Math and Science, from Geometry to Calculus and Biology to Organic Chemistry and Physics. On the weekends I taught an ACT prep course where many students improved there scores by more than 3 points. I have also led SAT, PSAT, and GED prep courses, with much success.
