Education
I graduated from the College of Charleston in May 2010 with two bachelor's degrees in Media Communications and Spanish Language along with a minor in Psychology. I am currently working as a Digital Communications Specialist for Verge Solutions LLC, a national medical operations software company.
Experience
I began tutoring students as a Peer Mentor with the College of Charleston. I was responsible for helping a freshmen student with severe learning disabilities acclimate to college life through the use of academic guidance and counseling. My main academic focus with this student was to hone study skills, time management ability and writing techniques. In regards to psychological support, I provided encouragement and helped him to process and work through emotional issues. Additionally, I was required to keep this student’s parents apprised of concerns and progress on a weekly basis during the course of the school year. I have been an active tutor ever since graduation working mainly with college students from CofC and The Citadel who range in academic backgrounds and needs. I am proud of maintaining long term tutoring relationships with my students and their families – a few of which have spanned the students’ entire college career. As my current students move to the end of their college careers, I am focusing more attention on helping them seek internships, draft resumes and prepare for interviews.
